To get you comfortable with using the service, the first month is absolutely free. After that, texts cost just 50c each (charged monthly in arrears to your PSIS account) and there's no monthly fee – so you only pay for what you use.

 Who can use TXT Banking?

All PSIS customers registered for the service. If under 18, the child's account signatory(ies) must sign an Indemnity Form with PSIS.

 How do I register?

 How much does TXT Banking cost?

It's free to register and there's no regular facility fee, but each message costs $0.50. The cost of these messages is charged to your PSIS account monthly in arrears on the 26th of each month. Charges for messages exclude any PSIS transaction fee exemptions and special pricing or promotional offers from your cellular provider.

 Why do messages to PSIS cost more than texts to my friends?

Because the message is being sent to a business (PSIS) as a request for a service, rather than for personal communications.

 Can my phone account be billed for any message costs?

If you're not registered for the service or you've exceeded your daily message or transfer limit and your service has been disabled, your phone account may be billed for each message you send.

 Is the $0.50 charge in addition to any call charges by my cellular provider?

No, but your cellular provider may review their position on this at any time.

 How quickly should I receive a response after I send a text?

Mostly within 10-20 seconds, but due to the vagaries of text messaging, it may take longer but shouldn't exceed one minute.

 If I have a problem, who do I contact?

For all PSIS account queries, call PSIS on 0800 AT PSIS (0800 28 7747). For any questions relating to the Telecom network, call Telecom on 0800 651 000 from your landline or *123 from your mobile. For any questions relating to the Vodafone network, call Vodafone on 0800 800 021 from your landline or 777 from your mobile.

 Do I need a special phone to use TXT Banking?

All you need is a two-way text capable mobile phone, and to be within your cellular provider's coverage area.

 Do I need a special Access Code or Password?

No, but you will need to register for the service with PSIS. Call 0800 AT PSIS to find out how.

 Can I access TXT Banking from overseas?

No, the service is only available within New Zealand.

 What can I do with TXT Banking?

 Is there a limit on the number of messages I can send each day?

At the time you register for the service we'll agree with you what the maximum number of messages should be.

PSIS is not a registered bank, but a very co-operative co-operative.
